Türkiye Automotive Exports To France Hit New Records In 2017
$ 2.9 billion of Turkish automotive products have been exported in 2017, a 16% increase compared to 2016

Paris, 17 January 2018 - The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) today unveiled the 2017 figures for Turkish automotive exports to France. With automotive exports to France reaching $ 2.9 billion in 2017, a level never seen before, France confirms its status of preferred trading partner for Türkiye.

In 2017, Türkiye exported $ 1.5 billion worth of passenger cars (+ 30% compared to 2016), followed by automotive parts and components ($ 647 million, -5%) and commercial vehicles ($ 406 million, + 13%) to France. Conversely, Türkiye’s auto imports from France reached $ 994 million in 2017.

%77 of Türkiye's auto exports go to the 28 EU members. France, which accounts for 10% of all Turkish automotive exports worldwide, is Türkiye's third largest export partner in this market, after Germany (17%) and Italy (12%).
“France has long been one of our main partners in the automotive sector and remains a major export market for Türkiye. Looking ahead to 2018 and beyond, we expect accelerated growth and market access for French and European companies” comments Orhan Sabuncu, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Industry Exporters' Association.
Türkiye produced 1.9 million vehicles units in 2017.
The country ranks 14th among the world's motor vehicle producing countries. Türkiye, which produces 6.8% of all vehicles built in the EU, is the 5th largest car manufacturer and the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in Europe. Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault or Temsa vehicles are among the most popular on the market.
Its prominence in the sector is also reflected in its exports, which account for 77% of all automotive production. The country relies on a network of suppliers of 4,000 exporting SMEs, 200,000 employees and 200 international investors.
By 2023, Türkiye is expected to produce and export 4 and 3 million car units respectively.
